Avoca, 100% Irish. By S.

There is one shop I always have to visit while I'm in Ireland and that's Avoca, one of Ireland's treasures. It's a family-run business that is famous for its throws and blankets as well as its clothing and food label. They also have their own perfumes, glassware, ceramics, and run a world-class garden.

I own various throws from Avoca which always remind me of Ireland, of my family there, of the beauty of the country and the warmth of its people. It's the kind of shop that takes you back in time when everything was simple, uncomplicated, natural, basic.  It arouses the senses to the smell of home-made cooking, the feel of 100% lambs wool, the colours of natural flowers... It's simply beautiful.

Avoca says that "what unifies our approach is to try to avoid the average or ordinary. Instead, we look for colour and life and happiness, and seek out the unusual and beautiful. Our mission is to create joy and have fun. In fact we're selfish, choosing things firstly because we love them and then hoping we're not alone in our taste."
